DFSA Conduct Rules: Associated Persons & Indemnity Arrangements

Been buried in spreadsheets all week trying to value small-cap logistics firms and still finding time to squeeze in some studying between meetings. The roadblock for me right now is the legal and regulatory module for the ICWIM—specifically the dense sections on the DFSA Conduct of Business Rules. It feels like they take a standard Basel concept and rewrite it just to make it harder to memorize for the IISI exam. I am currently stuck on exactly how the DFSA defines "associated persons" for the purposes of client asset protection rules compared to the definitions found in the CME-1 textbook. In the practice examples, it seems inconsistent regarding firms that merely provide indirect distribution but do not hold the client money or belong to a kabul. Can someone confirm if the specific paragraph in the UAE FRR regarding "indemnity arrangements" supersedes the general definition found in the syllabus reading regarding independent dealing? Honestly, I just want to pass this so I can stop reading this handbook and get back to doing actual due diligence instead of memorizing regulatory checklists that probably only apply to the compliance officer two desks down from me.

am i mistaken or does the indemnity requirement only trigger if the associated person breaches the code? what if we imagine a scenario where the firm is negligent in oversight but the rep follows the rulebook, does the insurance prevent the firm from claiming against the shared indemnity? theoretical only just asking.

Oh gosh I am currently drowning in the ICWIM regulations too and they are so dense I thank you for posting this because it helps knowing I am not the only one finding the DFSA rules overwhelming right now hopefully we can both get through this module eventually good luck with the spreadsheets too please hang in there

yep legal section is killing me too late night sessions are brutal for retention i keep getting mixed up with the associated persons definitions in icwim regarding the indemnity do we need to memorize every single trigger point or is there a pattern honestly i think i passed j02 trust by pure luck maybe look at https://exams.academy/certifications/cisi-icwim-ar-cme-4a/ it helped clarify it for me at least before i gave up.
