Good morning to all my fellow finance professionals on this forum It is truly wonderful to find a dedicated place for study while I embark on my journey to sit for the ICWIM and IISI examinations here in Oman I have spent the last three decades managing a branch in Muscat and I usually handle the transactional side of routine banking, so while I feel confident in my practical experience, the syllabus is incredibly detailed I am currently slogging through the CME-1 section and must say that the sheer volume of memorization required is quite a steep climb compared to what we used to deal with ten years ago due to the constant updates in the regulatory framework One specific point that is causing me a significant headache is regarding the Securities Regulation in the Gulf states, specifically how the new CMSA regulations interact with the liability restrictions under LVRO I am trying to grasp the exact mechanics for calculating the restricted securities offering during a capital raise and how this differs for sponsored versus non-sponsored foreign entities I keep getting mixed up on the threshold where the shares become non-restricted upon the expiry of the legal lock-up period versus when they become freely transferable on the secondary market I look at the sample questions for the UAE FRR paper and find the distinction between the volume of shares and the timing of the public offering announcement rather confusing I would be extremely grateful if anyone could offer a simple way to remember these timing limits or perhaps point me towards a study guide that breaks down the 2018 CME regulations cleanly I really appreciate everyone sharing their knowledge on this board and wish you all the very best with your upcoming exams
