IISI Tips: UAE FRR Capital Indices & CME-1

I finally sat for the IISI this week after grinding the spreadsheets, and honestly, the distinction between objective and subjective questions surprised me more than the technical bits. I spent weeks drilling the quantitative section, but the capital adequacy ratios from the UAE FRR readout caught me off guard because they apply a specific multiplier to the credit risk that isn't always obvious in the glossary definitions. It is really easy to just memorize the percentages without understanding the weighting behind them; I noticed that for capital index pricing, you have to pay close attention to whether a specific industrial activity attracts a higher multiplier compared to trading activities. I think my biggest preparation win was mapping out every single acronym in the ICWIM section against the resolution planning timelines, which turned out to be the bulk of the case study questions. Another area that requires absolute precision is the CME-1 structural hedging diagrams; don’t rush through the e-trading scenarios because the tax adjustments on settlement entries are where most candidates tend to slip up for that half-mark.
