Chapter 1: Long term care: the background

Long term care insurance (LTCI) addresses the cost and practical consequences of a person losing the ability to live independently. The FCA definition links the insured event to health deterioration that is not expected to change and requires assistance with independent living; a qualifying contract can provide periodic benefits for all or part of that period.
