FSMA 2000. FSMA 2000 created the Financial Services Authority (FSA), later split into the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA); the Financial Services Act 2012 amended parts of FSMA and created the FCA and PRA. Its four statutory objectives are market confidence, public awareness, consumer protection and reduction of financial crime, supported by Principles of Good Regulation. Part II. FSMA has 30 parts. Part II contains the general prohibition: no person may carry out a regulated activity in the UK, or purport to, unless authorised or exempt. No. Global Financial Compliance is a separate Level 3 examination that may form part of the Diploma route. Regulation and Compliance is the Level 6 narrative unit with its own syllabus and written assessment.
